HADITH 17

Hadith 17

Anas, may Allah be satisfied with him, narrated, “One day while the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) was amongst us, he fell asleep then (later) raised is head, smiling. We said, ‘Why are you smiling, O Messenger of Allah?’ He said, ‘A verse was revealed to me a while ago’. Then he recited. ‘In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful. Verily, we have granted you Al-Kawthar . Therefore turn in prayer to your Lord and sacrifice (to him only). For he who makes you angry, will be cut off (from every good thing in this world and in the hereafter).*’ Then he added, Do you know what Al-kawthar is?’ We said, ‘Allah and His Messenger know better.’ He said, ‘it is a river that my Lord, the Exalted in Might and the Ever-Majestic, has promised to grant me; there is abundant good in it and it is a basin to which my Ummah will come on the Day of Resurrection; and its utensils are as many as stars. A servant (of Allah from among those who will try to come to that basin) will be pulled (away from it), and I will say, ‘O My Lord, he is from my Ummah.’ Allah will say, ‘You do not know what it ( your Ummah) innovated (in the religion) after you.”

HADITH 18

Hadith 18
Abu Umamah, may Allah be satisfied with him, narrated that the Prophet (PBUH) said, “Allah, Glorified be He, says, ‘O son of Adam, if you keep patient and hope for (my) reward on the first shock (of any calamity), I will not be satisfied with any reward (for that) except Paradise” (Ibn Majah)

We should firmly believe that nothing can be done against Allah’s wish. May Allah provide us the ability to remain patient as soon as tragedy takes place rather than moaning when it occurs. Amin

HADITH 19

Hadith 19
Abu Huraira, may Allah be satisfied with him, narrated that Prophet (PBUH) said: When Allah created Paradise, He ordered Jibrael: Go and see it. So he went and saw it. Then he returned and said: O Lord, By Your glory! Who hears of it would love entering it. Then He encompassed it with unpleasant things (hardships of worship) and said: O Jibrael! Go (again) and see it. So he went away to look at it. Then he came back and said: O Lord, By Your glory! I fear that no one will enter it. The Prophet (PBUH) said: When Allah created Hell, He said: O Jibrael, go and see it. So he went and saw it. Then he turned up and said: O Lord, By Your glory! No one who hears of it will enter it. So He encompassed it with lusts (worldly desires) and said: O Jibrael! Go back and see it. He went again to see it and came back saying: O Lord, By Your glory! I fear that on one will escape from entering it.

(Sound Hadith reported by Abu Daud, Tirmidhi, Nasa’I, Ahmad in Musnad and Al-Hakim in Mustadrak)

Allah has promised to give Paradise in reward to those who do good deeds for the sake of Allah. But man is misguided by the Shetan and worldly lusts, which enables them to do bad deeds that lead to Hell. He who undergoes hardships for the sake of Allah; these hardships will lead him to the eternal abode of pleasures. May Allah unite us and give us guidance to remain on the right path. Amin

HADITH 20

Hadith 20
Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be satisfied with him, narrated that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, “Our Lord, Blessed and Glorified be He, descends every night to the nearest heaven when there remains the last third of the night. He says, ‘Who will invoke Me and I (may) respond to Him? Who will ask Me (for some thing) and I (may) give (it to) him? Who will ask Me to forgive him and I (may) forgive him?”

(Al-Bukhari, Muslim, and others)

May Allah give us the ability to seek forgiveness during the last third of the night, unite us and give us guidance to remain on the right path. Amin

HADITH 21

Hadith 21
Abu al-‘Abbas ‘Abdullah bin ‘Abbas, radiyallahu anhuma, reported: One day I was behind the Prophet, sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam, and he said to me: "O young man, I shall teach you some words [of advice] : Be mindful of Allah, and Allah will protect you. Be mindful of Allah, and you will find Him in front of you. If you (have need to) ask, ask of Allah; and if you seek help, seek help from Allah. Know that even if the Nation (or the whole community) were to gather together to benefit you with something, they would not benefit you with anything except that which Allah has already recorded for you, and that if they gather together to harm you with something, they would not be able to harm you with anything except that which Allah has already recorded against you. The pens have been lifted and the pages have dried."

[Al-Tirmidhi relates this and says: It is a good, genuine Hadith]

In a version other than that of al-Tirmidhi it reads:

"..Be mindful of Allah, you will find Him before you. Get to know Allah in prosperity and He will know you in adversity. Know that what has passed you by was not going to befall you; and that what has befallen you was not going to pass you by. And know that victory comes with patience, relief with affliction, and ease with hardship."
